This English version is provided for convenience. The Japanese version (利用規約) is the legally binding text; if the two differ, the Japanese version prevails.
These Terms set out the conditions for using the app "Life" (the "App"), provided by Taro Eiyo (known as "Neil") as an individual developer (the "Developer"). You accept these Terms when you start using the App (by tapping "Next" on the registration screen). The App is available to users aged 9 and over. If you are under 16, please use the App with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. In particular, the partner connection feature (server-side sync) and in-app purchases may be used only with parental consent.
1. The Service
The App is a lifelogging app that automatically generates daily memories and diary entries on your device from your photos, location, and similar data. Features may be added or changed without notice.
2. Your Data
Diary entries, memories, and similar data are stored on your device in principle. Details are set out in the Privacy Policy.
At present, regardless of plan, deleting the App deletes the data on your device. You can export your data at any time before deleting the App.
Once the backup feature for paid plans (planned for a future update) is available, data can be restored after reinstalling only if backup was enabled.
You retain all rights to the content you create in the App (diary entries, notes, plans, and so on). The Developer handles this content only to the extent necessary to provide the service.
Plans, anniversaries, and display names registered through the partner connection feature are shown to the partner you registered. If you include another person's personal information (such as their name) in a plan or anniversary, obtain that person's consent first. Removing your partner deletes the data from the sync server, but the Developer cannot guarantee deletion of content already displayed or saved on your partner's device.
2-2. AI-generated diary drafts
The Premium features "Write diary with AI" and "Your last month" generate drafts and summaries from your records and answers. Generated text is provided on the premise that you review it, edit it as needed, and save it yourself.
Generated content may contain inaccuracies or inappropriate expressions. The Developer does not guarantee its accuracy or completeness and is not liable for damages arising from its use.
The scope and handling of transmitted information are set out in the Privacy Policy. You can turn the feature off in Settings at any time.
3. Paid Plan (Subscription)
The App offers Premium (JPY 500 per month; prices may change, and the price shown in the App Store prevails). A Family plan is planned for a future update; its price and any free trial will be shown in the App Store when it becomes available.
In-app purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) and are subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. Subscriptions are billed through Apple's in-app purchase and renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel in your device's Settings → your name (Apple Account) → Subscriptions.
If a free trial is offered, no charge is made if you cancel within the trial period.
Cancelling does not delete your data. Paid features (memories and photos older than one month, highlights, and so on) are locked, and everything is available again if you resubscribe.
The App provides partner sharing (shared plans and anniversaries). If either of you subscribes, both of you can use it. If the partner connection is removed, the non-subscribing side returns to the free plan and schedule sharing is no longer available. Shared data is also deleted from the sync server when the partner connection is removed or all data is deleted (see the Privacy Policy).
4. Family Check-in Feature
The family check-in feature is planned for a future update together with the Family plan. When provided, it will follow these principles.
It will be part of the Family plan and will start only after explicit approval on both the parent's and the child's device.
The child's device will always show that check-in is active. The Developer will not provide monitoring that the child cannot see.
The information shared will be limited automatically according to the child's school year, and sharing of current location and photos will end automatically when the child enters high school.
5. Prohibited Conduct
The following are prohibited.
Copying, modifying, or reverse-engineering the App
Registering as a partner or linking a family check-in while impersonating another person
Using the App to monitor a third party without their consent
Registering a third party's personal information in the partner connection feature without their consent
Any other conduct that violates laws or public order and morals
6. Disclaimer
Diary entries, memories, place detection, and check-in notifications generated by the App are estimates based on information on the device, and their completeness and accuracy are not guaranteed.
The family check-in feature assists parental supervision and does not guarantee a child's safety.
Except where the Developer has acted intentionally or with gross negligence, the Developer's liability for damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the App is limited to the amount you paid to the Developer for the App (including through the App Store) in the one month immediately before the damage occurred. Where the Consumer Contract Act or other mandatory law does not permit this limitation, the Developer's liability is limited to the extent permitted by law.
The Developer may discontinue the App. In that case, notice will be given in the App or on the App Store at least 30 days in advance, and data on the sync server will be deleted after discontinuation.
7. Changes and Governing Law
These Terms may be revised as needed. Important changes will be announced in the App or in the App Store update notes.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute relating to the App is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over the Developer's place of residence.
Downloading and licensing the App from the App Store is subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). These Terms set the conditions of the service to the extent they do not conflict with the Standard EULA. If the two conflict, the Standard EULA prevails on licensing matters, and these Terms prevail on the content of the service, paid plans, and data handling. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and have the right to enforce them against you.
Maintenance and support of the App, and responses to any claims from users or third parties relating to the App, are the responsibility of the Developer, not Apple.
Notwithstanding the above, users who are consumers in Japan are protected by the Consumer Contract Act and other mandatory laws of Japan.

Because this is a digital service, returns and refunds after purchase are generally not accepted. Refunds follow Apple's (App Store) refund policy; request them through Apple's "Report a Problem" (reportaproblem.apple.com)
